 Mid-Atlantic Blizzard
In the Mid-Atlantic Blizzard of 2010 we got about 24+ inches of snow in 24 hours at my house. I spent the morning clearing the driveway and taking turns with the community snowblower clearing our cul-de-sac.
In the afternoon and evening I was down at Baltimore-Washington Medcial Center, along with a dozen or so Maryland Jeeper Club Members, shutteling medical personnel back and forth from the hospital to their homes.
The main roads were a bit tricky, lots of abandoned cars blocking roads and obstructing the work of the snowplows. I unstuck a police van, a small pick-up style snow plow, and a big flatbed tow truck that were in my path to pick up hospital staff. The flatbed was a little like the "little-o ant" story. If you don't have a bungee strap you got to get one, works great when you are on slick icy surfaces; at least you can utilize a little momentium and kenetic energy to improve the physics stacked against ya.
Pictures later.

Sweet. I'll have to post the pics from the snowball fight at DuPont Circle.

 Re: Mid-Atlantic Blizzard
After a similar storm back in 2003 when my street didn't get plowed for three days, we all chipped in and bought two snowblowers for 20 homes. This is what the street looked with no help from county plows, just our own snowblowers. Making progress.

 Re: Mid-Atlantic Blizzard
Well, all that and we didn't get anything...not a flake here near NYC. South of us got over a foot. Just south of us got a few inches (talking a matter of 15 minutes south of us, btw. The storm came up the coast, got just below us and hit a hard right. Really sucked as I was looking forward to at least a few inches of snow to get the kids out to play in.
Might get snow Tuesday night/Wednesday. We'll see...

Bill, Great basketball hoop photo! But more importantly though, God bless you for charitably driving those medical personnel back and forth. Kinda what its all about, isn't it? And God bless 4 WHEEL DRIVE!

 Re: Mid-Atlantic Blizzard
I am very angry. (big surprise) Contemplating moving to Colorado. What kind of world do we live in when DC gets more snow than NH??? STILL waiting for my foot and a half snow storm... right about now I'm getting ready to settle for a 6-8" storm. (no perverted comments James, I already thought of them all)
Hope you are enjoying the snow buddy.

Hey DC - is that an Airedale Terrier out there helping you shovel the driveway? Just asking, as we had one at home while I was growing up. Awesome dog.

Yep, that's "Ruby" named after my Jeep (Rubicon). I've owned Airedales for almost 25 years; there for about 5 or so we were into the whole breeding and training thing. Might take it up again when I retire. They are great animals, hardy, friendly, playful, not too bright but what they lack in intellegence they make up for in charisma, kinda like a blonde. As a pup: A little over 1 yr old (she's 3 1/2 now):

 Re: Mid-Atlantic Blizzard
Called it quits for the time being driving for the hospital because of the lack of visibility, you can't see the edge of the road or oncoming traffic until they are right on top of you in these blizzard conditions. I'm on call for emergency only until the visibility improves which may not happen until tomorrow morning.
