Freelander Remote Radar Detector Installation

By: Steve

The top two pictures here show the antenna mount.  I removed the front bumper cover and found a nice place to put it.  To the left is the display unit.  It is visible from the driver's seat, but not visible from the outside of the vehicle.

The unit itself is the Whistler 3300.  It also has a laser detector built in that I mounted so the lens just barely peaks out from the headliner in the corner of the windshield... again, not visible from outside the vehicle. The Whistler 3300 also has an optional voice module and additional radar antennas should you want an additional one in the rear.

I am often asked how I installed my 3 watt booster hands-free kit with external antenna.  It's a Motorola kit with a Panavise mounting arm.  The control box is behind the stereo in the centre console and the antenna is a glass-mount unit installed on the rear quarter window. The mount was installed with 1/8" rivets, so should it be removed the holes will be tiny.
